Wireless Networks
Plan b provides a complete set of products and services in support of wireless data and voice networks that operate on mobile computers. This includes wireless local area networks and wireless wide area networks (both cellular and satellite). The push-to-talk voice feature can be included in either local or wide area communications.
Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN)
Wireless local area network products and services are typically provided for warehouse, distribution, and manufacturing operations that operate real-time, automated inventory and manufacturing management software applications.
-
WLAN Site Survey Reports: Provides detail regarding the quantity, location, and type of wireless access point (or switch-based access ports) required for complete wireless coverage. A deliverable as part of this service is a detailed written report including the bill of materials detailing all necessary hardware, maps of proposed wireless coverage, cable runs, and connection to the client’s network.
-
Installation & Go-Live Services: Installation of the WLAN utilizing information contained in the WLAN Site Survey Report. This service includes configuration and installation of access points, cable runs, connection to the client network, and complete test and confirmation of wireless coverage. A deliverable after installation is completed is a written installation report.
Wireless Wide Area Networks (WWAN)
Wireless wide area data and voice communications typically are used by companies that conduct field force operations, such as truck drivers, service engineers and technicians, and field sales representatives. Transactions in field force automation projects are conducted on a rugged mobile computer. Transaction results including proof of delivery and completed service orders can be transmitted via WWAN communications back to the home office for immediate billing.
Cellular-based WWAN: Plan b Solutions is an agent for most of the major cellular networks, such as Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T. The rugged mobile computers we provide can include embedded cellular data and voice radios. Plan b will handle all of the activation and testing of the wireless radios embedded in mobile devices.
Satellite-based WWAN: Sometimes transactions completed by mobile workers take place outside of areas that have cellular coverage. For mission critical, real-time information exchange from remote areas, satellite-based data communications are available. In addition, specialized communication platforms are available that provide automated switching between cellular and satellite data communications based on strength of coverage.
If you are considering adding or updating a wireless network at your company, give us a call and we'll provide our expertise to your project!
